My makeup routine used to be fairly boring. Concealer, powder, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, lipgloss. That was it. I recently started getting more interested in learning how to use makeup to my advantage after weight loss surgery and started subscribing to beauty boxes. My first Allure box contained this Floss Highlighter in the color Sunlit.
Now, I’ve never used a highlighter, so at first I had no idea what to do with it. After a few Youtube tutorials, I learned it’s meant to highlight (duh, blondie) the highest points of your face. So it goes basically on your cheekbones, your temples, along the sides of your nose, your cupid’s bow. Anywhere you want a little extra shimmer and ‘oomph’ to your look. I’ve also used it in the arch of my eyebrows to draw attention there when I’m doing some of my more glam eye looks.
It’s quickly become one of my favorite products. The color is absolutely perfect. In the pan, it looks like a champagne hue, but once on your skin, it gives a subtle golden shimmer. Since it’s a pressed highlighter, you can adjust the intensity, as well. It’s so smooth and builds easily with a brush or your fingers, though I prefer an S-shaped contour brush to make sure it hits the curves of my face properly.
Here’s a glance at how it looks on, swiped across my cheekbones and nose. You can see the ultra-glam way it highlights and shimmers in the bright light of the bathroom very well. In normal daytime or sunlight, it would be a more natural, beautiful shimmer as your skin caught the light. Overall, I highly recommend it for most skin tones because it’s universally flattering with its golden shimmers.
